About us
We are
Founded over 35 years ago by
Mick and Julie Turrell, LP started as
a small High Street store in Newbury,
providing a family-focused service
to both newcomers to the hobby
and those with more established
knowledge.
You might also know us from arranging
‘The Newbury Rally’ in the 1990s, where over
1000 detectorists would join us for a weekend
of fun, socialising and discovering lost history.
As the hobby has grown, so has LP.
With over 1500 products from the world’s
most popular manufacturers for you to
choose from, we work hard to ensure we
have the right products at the right price.
All are delivered with the same
customer-focused service you can expect
from a business that has retained its family
ownership. So whilst we are bigger than we
were, every purchase and customer is as
important to us now as in the 1980s.
We have a real passion for the hobby
All of us at LP detect so we have an
in-depth knowledge of our products and
the hobby, too; this ensures we can give
you the very best advice. Whether this is
over the phone, via webchat, or at some of
the largest detecting rallies throughout the
year, we are on hand to share our
